Get a Crown While You Wait

At Parkside Dental Care in Fairfield, we take a critical interest promoting the best care for your smile.  We have always invested back into our dental practice and we’ve also always committed ourselves to continuing education and staying on top of the latest technology.  It is the combination of these interests that compelled us invest in a CEREC machine for our patients.

With a traditional crown, patients have to attend a series of appointments to take a mold of the tooth, send to a lab, wait as long as two weeks, come back for a fitting and potentially send back to the lab once more.  Not to mention the hassle of having to wear a temporary crown while waiting for the permanent.  Every bite is a conscious effort until that permanent crown is seated for fear of it falling out. That can be embarrassing and painful.

Why CEREC is Amazing

The CEREC machine is one of the most amazing advancements in dentistry.  If you need a crown, the CEREC machine allows us to prepare a porcelain crown in the office during your visit in a matter of minutes.  A CAD/CAM computer and milling machine prepares the crown based on images of your mouth before and after preparation for the crown.  Once the milling begins, you can actually watch your crown being made.

There are absolutely no disadvantages to having a CEREC crown.  The accuracy of the fit and the precision of the digital images are much better than any of the traditional impressions or models made by a lab. If you have a particularly sensitive gag reflex like many people do, you will be happy to know that this means you are not required to put those trays filled with impression material in your mouth and hold. The dentist takes photos of the preparation, the bite and of the problem tooth using an intraoral camera. Once approved, it is sent to the milling machine via wireless or on a closed network where your new crown is milled out of a ceramic block. From the point of having your images taken and then your crown created, the process takes about 15 minutes to complete. It’s very fast!  Aesthetically, the materials used look very similar to what your own teeth look like. More of your natural tooth is saved with CEREC. There is no significant difference in life expectancy between a CEREC crown and a traditional crown that is sent for from a lab.

If you are in the market for a crown or a replacement crown and you’ve been putting it off because of the inconvenience or because you’ve disliked the traditional process, we highly recommend calling our office in Fairfield, CA to set a consultation to see if you are a candidate for CEREC.  The wait is over - contact us about a same day CEREC crown today!
